Fifteen Warwick State High School female students recently gave their Saturday morning to help the Zonta Club of Warwick in association with The Birthing Kit Foundation Australia to assemble birthing kits.
The purpose of assembling the birthing kits is to help in providing a clean and safe birthing environment for women in developing countries to reduce the incidence of infant and maternal morbidity and mortality in third world countries
The kits are basic with 6 items: plastic sheet, soap, 2 gloves, sterile scalpel blade, 3 cords and 5 gauze squares. The six components of the birthing kit are placed into press seal bags ready to be sent overseas.
The school is very proud of these girls for volunteering their time to help such a worthy cause.
