Bring Your Own Device 2025

“BYOd” stands for Bring Your Own Device, where students may bring their privately owned laptop to school and connect it to the school’s network to access the Internet and school resources.

Years 7-10 BYOd 2025

BYOd is not requried for students in Years 7 to 10. Existing computer labs allow these students access to the ICT resources they require.

Years 11-12 BYOd 2025

In 2025, all Year 11 and 12 students must bring their own laptop to school. As our curriculum changes, delivery of lessons will rely on students being able to access their own device with the majority of textbooks in a digital format, rather than paper copies. Students will have the ability to seamlessly continue their work between home and school as they develop critical technology skills and prepare for their futures in the 21st century.

Please click here to download an updated ICT Responsible Use form. This form needs to be signed and returned to the school before access will be granted.

If you have any queries regarding the below specifications, or are experiencing financial hardship please contact Mr Daryl Thompson (Deputy Principal) on 46669222.

Terms and Conditions

To participate in the Bring Your Own Device program, students must:

  • Be a financial member of the Student Resource Scheme in order to allow access to school resources, digital textbooks (years 11 and 12 only, where available), internet, data storage and printing
  • Accept all policies and guidelines as per the School’s Code of Conduct for Students
  • Understand that failure to comply with the Responsible Use Agreement (originally signed as part of the student’s enrolment) could result in the loss of access to the school’s ICT network.

School Lockers

The school will provide all students access to their own personal locker and padlock so they can safely store their laptop, and other school items, during the school day.

Device Selection for BYOd

Before acquiring a device to use at school the parent or caregiver and student should be aware of the school’s minimum device specifications, appropriate device type, operating system requirements and software.

Microsoft Office (Free to Staff and Students)

* If you are a student who currently has a laptop running Windows 10, particularly if you are a year 11 student, we do not recommend you purchase a new laptop with Windows 11 for, what will be essentially only term four of 2025 . We have contacted Microsoft asking if a Windows 10 laptop will be able to connect to the Education Queensland BYO network that we use here at Warwick SHS, and they are unable to give us an answer. If your laptop has the ability to upgrade to Windows 11, and you are happy to do so, we recommend that you do.  We will update this as soon as we have more information.
